The list of arrests made in connection to the murder of Julio Cesar Gonzales-Espantzay continues to grow, as the Homicide Squad announced the arrest of 23-year-old Antonio Cullal on Saturday, Oct. 7.
According to police, Gonzales-Espantzay, who had been a resident of Valley Stream, was found dead in the Massapequa Preserve on Thursday, March 23, with injuries that appeared to have come from a large cutting instrument. A series of investigations culminated in the arrests of Carlos Portillo, 22, of Hempstead, on July 29; Kevin Granados-Coreas, 19, of Rosedale, on Aug. 15; and Laura Christina Campos, 28, of Maryland, on Sept. 28. All of the defendants are charged with second-degree murder. Cullal was arraigned on Saturday, Oct. 7, in First District Court, Hempstead.
